Traditional 6,309-yard undulating parkland members' club ten miles north-east of central London, close to the M11 and M25.
A brief history
Chigwell Golf Club was founded in 1925, part of the mid-twenties expansion of golf into the north-east London suburbs as the new arterial road network opened up the area. The course was laid out on undulating parkland land in Chigwell, then a semi-rural part of Essex and now firmly within the Greater London commuter belt. The club has retained its members' identity throughout its history and the course routing remains close to its original inter-war design, with mature trees having grown up to frame what would have been more open ground in the early years.
