Puttenham Golf Club, founded in 1894 on Puttenham Common by Army Officers and local businessmen, developed from nine holes into an 18-hole heathland course measuring 6,163 yards and par 71. The course occupies historically significant ground where Queen Victoria reviewed 20,000 troops in 1858, an event marked by a plaque unveiled by Prince Edward in 2008, and incorporates a Victorian cemetery with Commonwealth War Graves between the opening and closing fairways.
