Championship parkland course with mature planting and USGA-spec greens.
Resort venue with two 18-hole courses, the championship Lakes course and the shorter Links course, set in 320 acres of Essex countryside.
A brief history
Originally laid out in 1974 and known for many years as the Crowne Plaza Resort Colchester, the venue has cycled through several hospitality operators and is now owned and run by Potters Resorts as Potters Resorts Five Lakes. The Lakes course was built as a championship-standard test and has hosted European Tour qualifying events and regional professional tournaments during its history. The resort sits in a part of Essex that historically had little golf infrastructure, and Five Lakes was one of the larger purpose-built resort developments in the east of England in the seventies. It remains a popular venue for societies and corporate days.
