Public inland links-style course of 6,069 yards on Canvey Island, exposed to coastal winds and welcoming pay-and-play visitors.
A brief history
Castle Point Golf Club opened in 1988 as a municipal pay-and-play course on Canvey Island, built to give the local population accessible affordable golf without the membership commitments of the traditional Essex clubs. The links-style layout takes advantage of the open coastal land on Canvey, with the prevailing winds off the Thames Estuary giving the course a genuinely linksy feel despite being more accurately described as inland links. It remains one of the most affordable golf venues in south Essex and serves a steady stream of pay-and-play visitors alongside its local membership.
