Carved from ancient Sussex heathland in 1904 to a design by Jack Rowe, Piltdown's 18-hole course eschews bunkers in favour of narrow fairways, small greens and abundant heather, gorse and gullies that demand precision from the strategic player. A substantial greens project completed in 2018 and substantial course investment have established it as a modern challenge, recognised in 2018 as the 43rd-best course in England.
