London Scottish is England's oldest 18-hole golf course, set among the heath and woodland of Wimbledon Common since 1865. The course meanders across mature trees, gorse and heather, with holes following the lines of former rifle ranges and a Victorian clubhouse purpose-built in 1897; though short by modern standards, its tight, tree-lined fairways and demanding greens provide genuine challenge in a characterful setting that remains largely unchanged from its 19th-century origins.
