Hampstead Golf Club, founded in 1893 on Hampstead Heath, is London's closest golf course to the centre, lying just 5.5 miles from Trafalgar Square. Designed by Tom Dunn, this nine-hole parkland layout has long impressed golfers; three-time Open Champion Henry Cotton famously remarked that playing to handicap here would guarantee success anywhere. The club survived bombing during the Second World War and has remained an established fixture in the capital for over 130 years, though it is now open to members only. Current yardage and par are not publicly stated on the website.
