About the course

Established in 1893 on 49 acres of naturally sandy terrain, Blackwell was redesigned in 1923 by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler into an 18-hole course of considerable skill and strategy. The club gained renown as a venue for amateur golf and historic exhibition matches, most notably hosting Bobby Jones in 1930 following his Open Championship win at Royal Liverpool.
