Founded in 1884, Aldeburgh is England's second oldest maritime heathland course, combining sandy heathland terrain with links-like characteristics and commanding views across the River Alde to the North Sea. The recently renovated Championship Course presents a stern examination with two par fives, four par threes and 12 par fours, while a shorter nine-hole River Course overlooks marshland rich with birdlife; the club welcomes visitors year-round and is notable for having pioneered equal membership rights for women from its earliest days.
