Established in 1919, an undulating parkland course set in the shadow of Audley End House on the Essex-Cambridgeshire border.
A brief history
Saffron Walden Golf Club was established in 1919, founded in the immediate post-First World War years when golf was expanding rapidly across the home counties. The course was laid out on undulating parkland in the shadow of Audley End House, the grand Jacobean stately home that anchors this corner of Essex on the Cambridgeshire border. The setting gives the club a distinctive sense of place, and the course has matured over more than a century into a well-regarded members' venue. Saffron Walden itself is one of the most historic market towns in Essex and the golf club shares much of that traditional character.
