One of the world's premier links courses, Royal Lytham has hosted eleven Open Championships and numerous major tournaments including the Ryder Cup and Walker Cup. The 18-hole course, famous for its 174 pot bunkers and demanding design, is set in suburban surroundings yet close enough to the coast to feel the sea breeze's effect on play; Bernard Darwin memorably called it 'a beast of a Course, but a just beast'.
