Founded in 1869 as Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake, Royal Liverpool is one of England's oldest seaside links and a crucible of the game's development, having hosted 13 Open Championships and inaugurated the Amateur Championship. The course's flat appearance belies its exacting demands on shot selection and accuracy, having tested champions from Harold Hilton and Bobby Jones to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
