Purley Downs is a downland course established in 1894 on fine turf with natural contours, redesigned as an 18-hole layout by Open champion JH Taylor in 1903-4. The club, fully owned by its members since the 1950s, maintains notably fast and true greens whilst commanding spectacular views over London from its countryside setting.
