Penn Golf Club is a heathland course on Penn Common, bordered between the industrialised Black Country and rural Staffordshire countryside. Founded in 1908 when members stayed at the original course after the club relocated, it has matured into one of the area's most respected layouts, with well-maintained greens and fairways that utilise natural gorse and grasses; the club counts among its early members Archie Compston, a leading interwar professional and friend to the Prince of Wales, and Charlie Stowe, a miner who rose to represent England in the Walker Cup.
