Founded in 1931, Harpenden Common is a parkland course laid out on common land with mature trees and gorse, where golf has been played since the 1890s. The 18-hole layout comprises an original 11-hole woodland section and a seven-hole extension (the Jockey Field) added in 1996 following a revision by Ken Brown, with a par of 70 playing to 6,001 yards from the white tees and holding National Green Flag status.
