Founded in 1914 and relocated to its present Yarm Road location in 1928, Eaglescliffe is a James Braid design that has evolved through multiple extensions and redesigns, including work by Henry Cotton in 1968 that restored it to the current 18-hole, par 72 format. The rolling course beside the River Tees is characterised by sloping greens and varied terrain, with signature holes including the Par 5 14th requiring a tee shot across the river and the dramatic Par 3 17th played downhill across a pond.
