Douglas Valley opened in August 1996 as a nine-hole course designed by Jeff Shuttleworth to US specification with sand greens, unique in the area. Set against the Pennine hills with three lakes and the river Douglas dividing play, the par-32 layout suits both newcomers and experienced golfers, whilst the driving range and teaching academy serve wider practice needs.
